Burial will be in the Britton Cemetery under the direction of the Price Funeral Chapel of Britton. Visitation will be one hour preceding the funeral at the church. She died Thursday, March 2, 2006, at Avera-St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen at the age of 75. Normah Jane Stiegelmeier was born May 11, 1930, at Java, S.D., to David and Emma (Junker) Stiegelmeier. She started her elementary schooling at Java. She moved to a farm southeast of Britton with her family, and graduated from Britton High School in 1947. She continued her education at Northern Normal Teacher's College in Aberdeen, and taught a rural school near Sisseton, S.D., at Buffalo Lake. On Nov. 18, 1948, she married Clenten Patrick Kayl at Webster, S.D. They lived and farmed northeast of Britton for a few years, and later moved to a farm southeast of town. In 1954, they moved to a farm near Turton, where they remained until 1970. At that time, they moved to an acreage near Westport, where Normah remained until moving into Aberdeen. She worked as an aide at the Americana Nursing Home in Aberdeen for a number of years. Clenten died on Jan. 8, 2004, and Normah continued to make her home in Aberdeen. Normah was an avid reader, and also loved to play cards and bingo. She kept her mind active by doing numerous crossword puzzles, and also did beautiful embroidery work. She was a good cook, and excellent baker and did a lot of home canning. Grateful for having shared her life are her three sons: Clenten (Cindy) Kayl, Jr. of Broomfield, Colo.; Wayne (Laurel) Kayl of Loveland, Colo.; LeRoy (Cheryl) Kayl of Northglenn, Colo.; seven grandchildren; two sisters: Reva Cunningham of Reno, Nev.; Lavetta Pearson of Minneapolis, Minn.; and two brothers: Arlen (Sandy) Stiegelmeier of Gettysburg, S.D.; and Sidney (Sharon) Stiegelmeier of Britton, S.D. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and a sister.
