The memorial service for Tillie L. Hoff, 89, of Aberdeen, will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main Street, Aberdeen. The Rev. Shelia Richards will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen. Tillie died Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab.
Tillie L. Hoff was born on September 30, 1922 at Venturia, ND to Andrew and Christina (Woehl) Hoff. She grew up on a farm near Venturia, attended country school and went on to graduate from Ashley High School in Ashley, ND in 1941.
Tillie moved to Aberdeen with her parents after they sold the family farm. Tillie was the care giver for her parents until they passed away. At this time she continued in the food service field working as a waitress at the Virginia Café, Harbor Café and the Holiday Inn. Her love for visiting with her customers made for the perfect waitress and many kept coming back and asking for her. Tillie also worked at Three Sisters clothing store and Dr. Tilgners office.
Tillie became a member of First Baptist Church when she arrived in Aberdeen and was still a member at the time of her death. She sang in the church choir, taught Sunday school and helped out in the church kitchen.
For several years she lived in the 5th Avenue Apartments where she would help serve the noon "Meals on Wheels". She later entered Aberdeen Health and Rehab where she remained until the time of her death.
Grateful for having shared Tillie's life are two nephews, Dale (Sharon) Engelhart and Don (Donna) Engelhart three nieces, Anne (Gene) Eisenbeisz, Shirley (Larry) Schibonski and Gloria (Gary) Brooks and numerous great nephews and great nieces.
Tillie was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Christina Hoff, two sisters Goldie Herbold and Leah Engelhart, one brother Otto Hoff, one nephew James Herbold and one niece Rachel Stephens.
