Walter L. Kohler
80, passed away on Oct. 21, 2012 after 2 year treatment for pancreatic cancer. He was born in Canton, Ohio the son of Ernest and Helen Kohler. Walter graduated from McKinley High School. Walter attended Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict and received a Bronze Star. He continued to serve his country and city as a Canton Police Officer for 23 years. After retirement he worked at J.B. Stearn Community Center. He also loved horses and trained standard bred horses. He enjoyed many years at Citrus Park in Bonita Springs, FL. His greatest enjoyment and love was for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Carol Adams.
Walter is survived by his loving family, his wife of 57 years Miriam A. Kohler; son Bruce Kohler; daughter Jill (Don) Grant; grandchildren Don, Chris, Jay, Jeremy and Virginia Grant; sisters Mary Stock and JoAnn Reynolds.
Family and friends may call at the Reed Funeral Home, North Canton Chapel on Tues from 5 to 8 p.m. where services will take place Wed at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Maroni officiating. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church and/or to Pancreatic Cancer 1500 Rosecrans Ave Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, Calif. 90266.
