Obituary for Cyril A Ubelhor
Cyril A. Ubelhor, 85, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Deaconess Hospital.
He was born October 28, 1930 in Evansville and graduated from Memorial High School in 1948. He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County for over 70 years.
Cyril served in the US Army for two years during the Korean War, attaining the rank of sergeant. Over the years he enjoyed a variety of professions including selling vegetables and eggs from the family farm on the Fourth Street Market, driving a school bus, serving as the first chief of the German Township volunteer fire department, and working as a computer programmer. Throughout all these years, he also operated Cyril Ubelhor Family Christmas Tree Farm until 2011.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Wilma (Hirsch) Ubelhor; two sons, Matthew Ubelhor and Ronald Ubelhor, both of Evansville; one daughter Sara (Curtis) Stover of Mason, OH and two grandchildren, Ethan and Ava Stover.
Cyril was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Adelaide (Keethers) Ubelhor and by his brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Estelle Ubelhor.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County, Rev. Eugene Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church Vanderburgh County.
