William J. "Bill" Foertsch, 81, died Monday, May 9 (2005), in the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa at Mason City.
Funeral Mass for him will be celebrated by Father Daniel Greving at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial is in the parish cemetery with the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral home of Wesley in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be today (Thursday) at the funeral home with the CDA Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m.
William John, son of William and Theresia Wirth Foertsch was born October 28, 1923, at Wesley. He attended St. Joseph's Parochial School in Wesley, then lived with his sister, Rosemary and brother, John. They farmed for many years west of Wesley. Bill retired in 1985 at the age of 62 and they moved into Wesley in 1987.
Bill was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He loved to play cards, fish, garden and watch his game shows. He especially enjoyed his great nephew, Adam Foertsch, who lived with them for a few years.
Bill, John and Rosie's home was often filled with nieces and nephews who would come to stay. Whatever the children would play, Bill always joined in the fun. He liked to give the kids rides on his four wheeler. They would often celebrate special occasions with hand-churned ice cream and maybe a sip of Bill's homemade wine.
Bill is survived by sisters, Sr. Dorothia Foertsch, Milwaukee, Wis.; Imelda Heinen and her husband, Ferman, Algona; Rosemary Foertsch, Wesley; Irene Kuyper and husband, Lyle, Algona and brothers, Ed Foertsch and wife, Agnes, Algona; John Foertsch, Wesley; sister-in-law, Dorothy Foertsch, West Bend; brother-in-law, Bernard Heinen of Madrid, Iowa and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, George and sisters, Angiline Foertsch, Sr. M. Leon Foertsch, Mandelian Grant, Marie Heinen and Neomi Heinen.
