Full Obituary: Herschel Briesacher Herschel J. Briesacher, 99, of Belleville, IL, born April 29, 1912, in Belleville, IL, died Thursday, March 8, 2012, at his residence. Mr. Briesacher was a machinist for the Monsanto Corporation and later founded and operated the General Machine and Welding Service. He was a life-long musician and leader of the Tommy Ryan Orchestra. He played several instruments and particularly loved the saxophone and accordion. Herschel was a member of Musicians Local #29 and a member of St. Clair Masonic Lodge #24 AF&AM.He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Olinda, nee Weyhaupt, Briesacher; two brothers, Howard Briesacher and Virgil Briesacher, in infancy; and a sister, Hazel Quirin.Surviving are his wife of over 19 years, Annette K, nee Wolfe, Briesacher;a nephew, Darrell (Frances) Quirin of Belleville, IL;a close friend, Charles Weyhaupt of Belleville, IL;one grand-nephew and two grand-nieces.Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
