  [S927] Obituary. Joe Sickels, 75, died Tuesday, March 28,2006 at CLC Granger after a long illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 1, at 11 a.m. at St Andrew?s Episcopal Church in Des Moines. Burial will follow the service in the Memory Garden of St. Andrew?s. Joe was born August 29, 1930 in Taylor County, Iowa, near the town of Blockton. He was the son of John E. and Grace Fluke Sickels. Joe graduated from Northwest Missouri State Teacher?s College in Maryville, Missouri. He taught English in Colombia and Nicaragua, and was a therapeutic hypnotist for many years in des Moines. He married Hilda Audeh in Des Moines in 1966. He was preceded in death by his parents: his brothers, Paul, Gene, and Lyle: his sisters, Helen Miller and Lois Bauman: and his beloved dogs, Shep, Sniffy and Clancy. Joe is survived by his wife, Hilda of Des Moines: his son, John (Jeri) of Lawrence, Kansas: his daughter, Lisa Patterson of Roland, Iowa: and three grandsons, Nicholas Aaron Sickels, Joshua Patrick Patterson and Jackson Alexander Sickels. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Joe?s name to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa and the American Heart Association.
