  [S927] Obituary. dward Bender, 92, passed away Feb. 13, 2004 in Claremont, CA. He was born July 8, 1911, in Burleigh County, ND. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, w ho enjoyed mechanics, handyman work, jig-saw puzzles and card games. He retired from B.F. Goodrich Tire Manufacturing after 30 plus years. He is dearly loved and will surely be missed. He is survived by his wife, Grace Bender; daughters, Violet O'Connor (Lawrence), Betty Jo Wade (Lee) and Charlotte Curtis (George); step-sons, David Layton (Ann) and Gabe Layton; step-daughter, Loydene Ford; sisters, Emma Ashley, Justine Ackerman and Theresa Schroeder; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitat ion will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18 and from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19 in the Stateroom at Rose Hills Mortuary, 3888 S. Workman Mill Rd., Gate #1, Whittier, CA. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19 at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Ivy Gardens Lawn, Gate #11.
