Mrs. Stephen Walter, 65, died early today at her home, Route 1, Lanesville. She was the former Louise Stilger and was a native of Lanesville. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Ann Society. She was archdiocese and rural life chairman for the National Council of Catholic Women. Survivors include her husband, Stephen Walter; four sons, Richard of Jacksonville, Fla., Charles of Muncie, Kevin of New Trinton, Edward Walter of Ludlow, Ky.; six daughters, Bernardine Walter of Redkey, Mrs. Pamela Wermuth of Amhurst, Mass., Mrs. Laura Cowans of Rockville, Mrs. Margaret Clemens of Nashau, New Hampshire, Dr. Susan Wilson, Noblesville, Mrs. Annette Smith of Pampa, Texas; one brother, Edward Stilger of Lanesville; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Sell of Lanesville, Mrs. Adeline Ruckreigel of Jeffersontown, Ky.; eight grandchildren. The body is at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Arrangements are incomplete.

She was archdiocese and rural-life chairman of the National Council of Catholic Women and a member of Harrison County Church Women United. Survivors: her husband; four sons, Richard Walter of Jacksonville, Fla., Charles Walter of Muncie, Kevin Walter of New Trenton and Edward Walter of Ludlow, Ky.; six daughters, Bernadine Walter of Red Key, Pamela Wermuth of Amherst, Mass., Laura Cowan of Rockville, Margaret Clements of Nashua, N. H., Dr. Susan Wilson of Noblesville, and Anita Smith of Pampa, Texas; a brother, Edward Stilger; two sisters, Adeline Ruckriegel of Jeffersontown, Ky., and Mary Sell; and eight grandchildren. Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday, St. Mary Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home at Corydon after 6 p.m. Saturday.

Louise Walter, 65, Lanesville, died early Friday at her home. She was born in Lanesville to the late Charles and Eva Ehalt Stilger. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Ann Society. She served on numerous church committees, was a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Harrison County Church Women United. Survivors include her husband, Stephen Walter; four sons, Richard Walter of Jacksonville, Fla., Charles Walter of Muncie, Kevin Walter of New Trenton and Edward Walter of Ludlow, Ky.; six daughters, Bernadine Walter of Redkey, Pamela Wermuth of Amherst, Mass., Laura Cowan of Rockville, Margaret Clements of Nashua, N. H., Dr. Susan Wilson of Noblesville, and Annette Smith of Pampa, Texas; a brother, Edward Stilger of Lanesville; two sisters, Mary Sell of Lanesville and Adeline Ruckriegel of Jeffersontown, Ky.; and eight grandchildren. A wake was held at Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home in Corydon at 2 p.m. Sunday. The funeral was held at 11 a.m. at her church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: James, Robert, Brian and Michael Walter, Jeffrey Wermuth and Charles Hess.
