Bio: Kathryn L. Kane, 80, of Surf City, formerly of Pequannock, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009.Born in Paterson, Kathryn was the daughter of Maurice and Margaret Sierens. Marrying George F. Kane, the couple raised seven children and lived in Paterson before moving to Pequannock in 1977.A graduate of St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Kathryn worked as a school nurse in Paterson for many years, working at Our Lady of Lourdes School, PS 12 and PS 18 before retiring.Kathryn and George owned a home on Long Beach Island since the 1960s and retired there, wintering in Florida. After George's death in 1998, Kathryn became a full-time resident of Surf City. She was an active parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church in Brant Beach and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Surf City Fire Company.Surviving are her children, James. F., Michael J., Richard A., George A., Kevin M., and Gerard R. Kane, Margaret E. Porta and 17 grandchildren.A Funeral Mass was said Monday at Holy Spirit R.C. Church Pequannock. Cremation was private. Published in the Manahawkin Newspapers on 7/1/2009
