Margie Bohnhoff, 90, formerly of New England, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at MedCenter One, St. Vincent's Care Center, Bismarck. Margie's funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012 at St. John Evang. Lutheran Church, Dickinson with Rev. Cal Oraw officiating. Interment will follow at Rainey Butte Cemetery, New England. Visitation will be Friday from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. with the family present from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.
Margie Homelvig was born December 2, 1921 on the farm west of Amidon to Sig and Eliza (Nicholson) Homelvig. Margie received her education in rural schools in the Amidon area and graduated from New England High School. She then attended Dickinson State Teachers College where she earned her teaching certificate. Margie married Glen Jelbert on June 30, 1947 at Lebanon Lutheran Church, Amidon. After Glen's death in 1953, Margie returned to Dickinson State and completed her teaching degree. Margie married LaVerne Bohnhoff on December 26, 1961 at Rainey Butte Lutheran Church, New England. Margie lived most of her adult life in the New England area. After obtaining her teaching degree, Margie taught in the Dickinson and New England Public Schools and loved the fourth grade class. Margie and LaVern retired to Dickinson in 1990. LaVern passed away in 2002. In 2006 Margie moved to Bismarck where she lived until the time of her death.
Margie was a Life Member of the National Education Assoc., 4-H Leadership, and Ladies Aide. In her spare time Margie enjoyed quilting at St. John Evan. Lutheran Church. She and LaVern loved to travel and go snowmobiling in the Black Hills.
Margie is survived by two sisters, Etta Keller, Glen Cross, S.D., and Shirley Kitzan, Richardton; two brothers, Cliffton Homelvig, Amidon and Glen (Dee) Homelvig, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, two infant brothers, one sister Ruth Kubista, one brother, Earl Homelvig, and two brothers-in-law. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given in Margie's name to Badlands Ministries, PO Box 305, Medora, ND 58645.
