Wanda A. Mason was born June 7, 1912, in Mandan, the daughter of John W. and Mary (Johnson) Mason. A graduate of Mandan High School, she married Alex J. Froelich on Nov. 18, 1933, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mandan.
Except for a period of time during World War II, when she worked as a tool room clerk for Boeing, Wanda was a lifelong resident of Mandan. Following the war, she and Alex returned to Mandan, where Alex and Leo Eckroth started a service station and bulk oil operation, which later became Froelich Oil. Alex died in 1961.
Wanda was a homemaker until Alex's death. She then not only took care of her home and family, but also worked at the bulk plant. She was also employed at the state legislative offices as a bill clerk and as a nurse's aid at Heartview. She had been living at the Waterford in Bismarck for the last four years.
Wanda loved being outdoors, especially when she could golf or garden. She was very close to her grandchildren and every minute with them was special. Embroidery was also a favorite activity. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Christ the King Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Lorraine Froelich, Mandan; her grandchildren, David and Connie Froelich and Kathy and Mitch Nilles, all of Bismarck, and James and Nicole Froelich, Larry and Cheryl Froelich and Thomas and Lisa Froelich, all of Mandan; 11 great-grandchildren, Mallory and Cydney Froelich, Mason and Madison Nilles, Danielle, Kathrine, Christian and Garrett Froelich, Alex and Alison Froelich and Emily Froelich; her niece, Donna Schultz, Juneau, Alaska; two nephews, Bill (Marilyn) Mason, St. Paul, Minn., and Allen (Mary) Mason, Chicago; and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alex; and her brother, Jack Mason.
