WASHBURN - Terry Kurle, 52, Washburn, died Feb. 26, 2003, at a Bismarck hospital after a year-long struggle with cancer. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Washburn, with the Rev. Dr. Bradley Brauer officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Mercer.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn. Visitation will continue from noon until the time of the services at the church.
Terry T. Kurle was born April 17, 1950, in Bismarck, N.D., to Ted and Ruth (Neumiller) Kurle. He was raised on his parent's farm southwest of Mercer. Terry graduated from Mercer High School in 1969. He attended college at the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton for two years. After college, he lived and worked in Bozeman, Mont., briefly before returning to North Dakota where he became employed as a construction worker.
He married Ardythe Boger on June 14, 1975, in Turtle Lake. Terry began work on the construction phase of the Coal Creek Station power plant and the couple moved to Washburn. In 1979, he began employment as a mechanic for the Coal Creek Station power plant. On June 1, of that same year, Terry and Ardythe were blessed with a son, Shawn. Terry continued to work for Great River Energy Coal Creek Station up until the time of his death.
He loved team roping, horses and the cowboy way of life. Terry spent much of his time in the great outdoors, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and relaxing with his family on the little ranch he built southwest of Washburn.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Ardythe Kurle, Washburn; his son, Shawn Kurle, Bismarck; his parents, Ted and Ruth Kurle, Mercer; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Duane and Jeri Kurle, Mandan, and Dennis and Kim Kurle, Washburn; his nephews, Daren (Janet) Kurle, Chad Kurle, Jesse (Tammy) Kirkmaier, Jason (Ann) Kirkmaier and Casey Kurle; his nieces, Anne (Brent) Earsley and Julie (Tracy) Geggleman; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Gertrude Boger, Turtle Lake; and two sisters-in-law, Brenda (Bob) Youness and Candice (Than) Galarneau, both of Kansas City, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents. (Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn)
