MAN IN VIETNAM A 20-year-old Salt Lake City man died Oct. 26 in Vietnam when his military aircraft crashed and burned. He was identified as Warrant Officer Russell D. Bentson, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben R. Bentson, 4148-20th East. W. O. Bentson, who had been in Vietnam for seven weeks, enlisted in the Army in 1966. He was graduated from the Army Helicopter Training School at Ft. Rucker, Ala., and was stationed south of Saigon with the 114th Assault Helicopter Company. He was a 1964 graduate of Olympus High School where he was a member of the Knudson Cup-winning ski team in 1964. He also was with the Alpine Training School in 1963-64, on the Olympus swimming and track teams and also a member of the Willow Creek Country Club swimming team. Before enlisting in the Army, he attended the South Dakota School of Mines for a year. He was born Nov. 30, 1946, in Brooking, S.D. W. O. Bentson was a member of the Holladay Community Church. Surviving are his parents; a brother, Ronald and a sister, Rise, all of Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Holladay Community Church, 2631 E. 4800 South. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family suggest contributions to the Holladay Community Children's Center.
