Publish date: 8/2/2006 Ralph P. KILZER , 97, formerly of Loveland, died Aug. 1, 2006. He was born Sept. 14, 1908, in Ashland, Ohio, to William and Mary Elizabeth Steinhoff Kilzer. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1932. He married Dorothy Peters on Dec. 24, 1933, in Elk Point, S.D. She preceded him in death in 2002. He was a resident of South Sioux City, Neb., before moving to Loveland in 1976, then to Denver in 2000. He taught math and coached and was a principal from 1932 to 1940. In 1940, he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service and was a mail carrier, retiring in 1971. He belonged to the Nebraska Pep Club and the National Postal Association. He was a member of First Christian Church in Loveland. He loved Nebraska sports. He loved to fish and liked to take his travel trailer to Florida, Texas and California. He spent a week every summer in a cabin with his family in Minnesota. He also enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. He is survived by a son, Bill Kilzer and wife Diane of Englewood; a daughter, Jackie Olsen and husband Erik of Glenbrook, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Phillippi; brothers, Paul and Everett Kilzer; and sisters, Pauline Kissinger and Pearl Larson. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Allnutt-Hunter Chapel. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
