I found presidential papers online that state she was the wife of Roy.Link: http://www.eisenhowermemorial.org/presidential-papers/first-term/documents/1994.cfmDocument #1994; September 22, 1956To Edna Alice Shade EisenhowerSeries: EM, AWF, DDE Diaries SeriesThe Papers of Dwight David Eisenhower, Volume XVII - The Presidency: The Middle WayPart X: Cracks in the Alliance; May 1956 to September 1956Chapter 21: "Grave difficulties in the Suez crisis"Dear Edna: Please don't worry about "causing any trouble."1 Actually, Louise had me in her "doghouse" for a long time because of that Family Chart.2 I never have been able to understand why people should be so disturbed by the truth. It was fun to see young Bud and his wife in San Francisco.3 I wish we could have had more time to visit with them.Give my best to all your youngsters when you write. Mamie joins me in much love to you. As ever1 The wife of the President's late brother Roy had apologized for the family chart's appearance in Bela Kornitzer's book, The Great American Heritage. Kornitzer, she explained, did not "keep his word" with her (Sept. 19, 1956, AWF/N). For background on the Eisenhower brothers' interviews with Kornitzer see no. 288; on other problems with the chart see no. 400.********Edna's birth year ranges from 1891 to 1896 according to various gedcoms.
