He was born in Monroe County, September 23, 1909, a son of the late John C. and Elizabeth Burkhart. He was a retired farmer and member of St. Henry Catholic Church at Harriettsville, an Army veteran of WWII, a member of Eagle Lodge 2302 Woodsfield, a life member of VFW Post 5303 Woodsfield and DAV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Warner Burkhart; three brothers, Ernest, Harold, and Paul; a grandson. Surviving are two sons, Thomas of Woodsfield and Dwight of Columbus ; two daughters, Mrs. Tyson (Susie) Carpenter of Waynesville, NC., and Mrs. Terry (Clarice) Est of Columbus; a sister Colletta Ackerman of Colum- bus; five grandchildren. Friends will be received today, 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield. Funderal ligurgy with Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10;30 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church, with the Rev. Victor Cinson officiating. Burial follows in St. Henry Church Cemetery with full military graveside services.
