Meyer, 81, died at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. He was born June 21, 1926, to the late Clement and Marie (Lehnen) Meyer. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Virginia Mehling and Mildred Daunhauer and two brothers, Ralph and Earl "Joe" Meyer. A World War II Army veteran, he served in the Pacific and retired from Union Operator Local 181. He married Eugenia "Jean" Wagner May 1, 1954 at Mary Help of Christians Church in Mariah Hill. He was a charter member of Santa Claus Legion Post 242, member of St. Vincent DePaul Society, Mariah Hill Conservation Club and Operating Engineers Local 181. Surviving are his wife, Eugenia Meyer of Mariah Hill; three sons, Alan of Gentryville, Bill of Appleton, Wis., and Mark of Eulles, Texas; three daughters, Brenda Wilson of Dale, Maureen Hagedorn of Santa Claus and Denise Meyer of Mariah Hill; three sisters, Bernice Daunhauer of Mariah Hill and Judy Klueh and Barbara Mohr, both of Ferdinand; two grandchildren, Megan and Matthew Hagedorn; two stepgrandchildren, Job Wilson and Jaclyn Chavolovich; two great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren. Funeral services were Saturday, March 22 at Mary Help of Christians Church with burial in the church cemetery and military rites. Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand was in charge of services.
