Burkhart, 94, a retired farmer, died at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday (Feb 8) at his home after a long illness. Mr. Burkhart was born in Monroe County Sept. 6 1871, a son of Anton and Hannah Kuhn Burkhart. He spent his lifetime in the Lewisville area. His wife, Mary Ann Haren Burkhart, died February 5, 1920. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. James (Loretta) Zwick of Lewisville, Mrs. Clem (Josephine) Zwick of Louisville, Mrs. George (Clementine) Kinnen of Caldwell, Mrs. Howard (Goldine) Hill of Canton, Mrs. Lyle (Pauline) Weisend of Lewisville, and Mrs. Carl (Nancy) Crum of Louisville, two sons, Andy and Joseph Burkhart, both of the home; 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. A son preceded him in death. Friends may call at Brubach Funeral Home in Summerfield from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Mass will be sung at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Burkhart. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery near Burkhart. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
