Nial Voss Napier died December 18, 1969, at St. John's hospital after suffering a heart attack at the Elks Lodge.
Mr. Napier joined the Marymount College faculty in 1947 as an instructor of music. In 1957, he became the business mangager of the college and in 1968 was elected treasurer.
Mr. Napier came to Salina from Ellsworth where he was supervisor of music in the public schools from 1930 to 1942. He had a bachelor's degree in music from Kansas State Teachers college, Emporia, and a master's degree in music education from Northwestern University.
From 1946 to 1959, he was director of the Salina municipal band. He was active in the Kansas Music Educators Association.
Mr. Napier was a veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge, Knights of Columbus, Kansas State Chamber of Commerce and the Salina Musicians association.
Survivors included his wife, Leonilla; his mother, Mrs. Bertha Eastland; sons, David and James; daughters, Mrs. Rosemary Amend and Mrs. Kathleen Pratt; and 11 grandchildren.
