Birth: Sep. 26, 1873 Caruthersville Pemiscot County Missouri, USA Death: Aug. 6, 1929 Caruthersville Pemiscot County Missouri, USA Newt Pierce, a native son of this city and a brother of Chas. Pierce, died here at the residence of E.L. Davis at 6:20 a.m. today. Mr. Pierce had been in feeble health for several months from tuberculosis of the bowels, which caused his death. Mr. Pierce was born and reared in Caruthersville, being the son of a pioneer business man of early days. He was born September 26, 1873, hence was nearly 56 years of age at the time of his death. He owned a splendid farm near Caruthersville which he had cultivated for many years. He was distinguished for his courageous honesty both in word and act, and leaves a host of friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Davis on East 11th street, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by the Rev. D.K. Foster, after which interment will be at Little Prairie cemetery.
