PALMYRA - KENNEDY, NATHALIA LEE HAUB, 87, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 in Lakeland, FL, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Kennedy was born July 29, 1923 in Morgan Township, Harrison County, IN, to Benjamin and Bessie Feiock Haub.
Along with her two brothers and two sisters, she spent most of her youth in Palmyra. She graduated from Morgan Township High School in 1941, and on September 4, 1943 joined in matrimony with Raymond Ervin Kennedy, her former schoolmate at Morgan Township High. Mrs. Kennedy lived and worked in a number of southern Indiana communities while supporting her husband's career as a basketball coach, including Pekin, Tell City and West Baden. In 1968, the family moved to Muncie, IN, where she achieved a 23-year career at General Motor's Chevrolet production plant until her retirement in 1990. In that year, Mrs. Kennedy moved to Florida, residing in both Tampa and Lakeland during her retirement. Mrs. Kennedy also lived in Warrenton, VA from 2003-2006. Mrs. Kennedy's competitive spirit and passion for basketball was preceded only by her devotion to her family, serving as a loving wife and mother for 64 years prior to her death.
She is survived by her sister, Jean Shively, of New Albany; her three children, Barry, Rebecca and Shannon; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Love Funeral Home in Palmyra. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
