Last name is Rufener-daughter of Christian Rufener (Swiss immigrant--WV 1858?). Her mother, Anna, was born in Wetzel County, WV to Swiss immigrants (Jacob and Margaret Portman). They may have brought children from Switz. (circa 1858?). Christian and Jacob may have been in Civil War. After Christian died, Anna and Nettie probably came down river to Louisville, where Nettie met George E. Haendiges. I think Anna remarried (maybe Zahnd) and moved to Indiana.
