Miriam I. Walgrave Croegaert, 92, of Geneseo, formerly of Annawan, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo.
A Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Annawan. The Rev. Andrew Sax of the Family of Mary, Italy, will celebrate, with the Rev. Jerry Logan and Monsignor Don Fitzpatrick concelebrating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Annawan. Family and friends of Miriam may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Vandemore Funeral Home, Atkinson, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be left to Sacred Heart Cemetery or Sacred Heart Church.
Miriam was born April 5, 1916, in Mineral, Ill., the daughter of Pete and Maggie Boelens VanCauwenberge. She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception Academy, Davenport. She was united in marriage to Arthur Walgrave in 1940 in Annawan. He preceded her in death in 1973. Miriam later was married to Raymond Croegaert in 1975 in Annawan.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Altar & Rosary Society of the church and Rosary Makers. Miriam also was a member of Henry County Farm Bureau, Daughters of Mary, Blue Army Prayer Cell, and Blue Cross Sewing Circle. She was a past member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Survivors include her husband, Ray; two daughters and spouse, Kathy (Gene) Sturtewagen, St. Louis, Mo., Rose Sax, Laramie, Wyo.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Delores (Bob) Hemauer, Roland (Donna) Croegaert, Eldon (Debbie) Croegaert; and many stepgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Walgrave and John Walgrave; a granddaughter, Terri; a brother, Raymond; and three sisters, Irene, Dorothy and Charlotte.
