MANDAN, N.D. - Marlys Boehm, 70, of Mandan, died Nov. 29, 2004, at a Bismarck care center. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Lutheran Church in Mandan with the Rev. Charles Axness officiating. Burial was in Mandan Union Cemetery. Buehler-Larson Funeral Home in Mandan was in charge of arrangements.
Marlys Ims was born on Dec. 31, 1933, at Judson, the daughter of Hildreth and Elsie (Starck) Ims. The family moved to Mandan where she was raised and educated, graduating from Mandan High School in 1951. She loved to sing and sang on the radio when she was in high school.
She worked at Purity Dairy, which later became Foremost and eventually Cass Clay. She married Eugene M. Boehm on June 14, 1952. They made their home in Mandan and raised six daughters. When Marlys was younger and in better health, she was a very active member of First Lutheran Church.
She also worked for Don Braun Accounting and was a sales associate at Herberger's where she earned an award for top sales. Marlys and Gene were blessed to have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June of 2002 which most all of their family was present. A short time later, she became a resident of the Baptist Home in Bismarck where she and her family were truly grateful for the wonderful care and compassion they received. Marlys came to consider it her home.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother as well as an excellent homemaker.
She will be deeply missed by those who survive her, including her husband, Eugene, of Mandan; six daughters and their husbands, Sandra and David Nelson of Williston, Pamela and Riley Neuhardt of Fergus Falls, Minn., Paula and Robert Leingang of Mandan, Michelle and Randy Hohbein Bismarck, Jenny Gronowski and fianc/, Todd Stephens of Bismarck and Carol and Greg Ellwein of Bismarck; eight grandchildren and their families, Beth (Nelson) and Shane Anderson, Kaden and Casey of Williston, Laura (Nelson) and Matt Johnson and Macie of Santa Ana, Calif., Scott Leingang and fianc/e, Andrea Schaaf, Red Wing, Minn., Kristin Leingang, Mandan, Heather (Hohbein) and Paul Heinle, Hunter and Alexis of Bismarck, Bruce Hohbein of Bismarck, Breann Gronowki, who is attending North Dakota State University, and Brett Ellwein of Bismarck; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, her sister, Beverly Froelick, and an infant brother preceded her in death.
