  [S927] Obituary. Houston, Texas ? Margaret Lydia Wellensiek Mann, 85, died at her home on May 25, 2011 in Houston, Texas. She was born on Aug. 14, 1925 in Lincoln. She married Dr. George Earl Mann on Aug. 9, 1951 in Cook. Margaret graduated with honors from Peru State Teachers College then taught sc hool in a one room school house in rural southeast Nebraska. After her marriage she became the office manager for her husband's optometric practice. The couple brought the gift of sight to many rural areas in Central and South America through mission work with the Lions Club. They received the Jefferson Award in Corpus Christi for their work with Timon?s Ministries where they started an eye clinic to serve the homeless. When in Texas, Margaret continued mission work through Island Presbyterian. She was a founding member of Island Presbyterian, North Padre Island, Texas, and long term member of First Presbyterian Church in Nebraska City. Her knitting and quilting skills helped provide bandages, blankets and hats to many groups across the globe. Margaret, loving known as ?OMA?, was a great mentor and inspiration to her friends and family. Her family was the highlight of her life. She loved to cook, had a great appreciation for music and had a strong faith in the Lord her God. She was preceded in death by mother Ida Wellensiek, son George Earl Mann III, husband of 54 years Dr. George Earl Mann II, and twin brother Marvin Wellensiek. She is survived by sons Dr. John Mann and wife Deanna, Dr. Gregory Mann and wife Michelle, and Jamie Mann and wife Shannon; daughter-in-law Kathy Mann; six grandchildren, Ashley, Cari, Chloe, Adam, Ian and Emma; and great grandchildren Kyndra, Ethan, Darian and Kaden. A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 25, at the First Presbyterian Church in Nebraska City.
