He was a native of California and a resident of Orangevale for over 25 years. Beloved husband of Dorothy for 39 years. He is survived by his daughter Kathleen Hays, sons Michael and Robert Hays and Stephen Odehnal. Devoted grandfather of Garrett, Brett and Ryan Hays, Jason and Kristi Sears, Adam and Matthew Odehnal and Great Grandfather to Sibohan. He was the loving brother of Marlene Smith. He also leaves behind many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews as well as many friends. Gene was a kind compassionate and loving individual who had the highest standards of honesty and moral integrity. He was devoted to his family and possessed the unique talent of being able to listen with his ears and feel with his heart. He will be missed greatly by family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LDS Church General Missionary Fund and to the Sacramento Children? ;s Home Society. Friends are welcome for visitation Friday from 4-8PM at PRICE FUNERAL CHAPEL (6335 Sunrise Blvd., 725-2109) and are invited to attend services Saturday 10AM at the CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, Orangevale Ward Chapel (7950 Hazel Ave.).
