Sister Mary Veronica Schumacher CHARLOTTE ? Sister Mary Veronica Schumacher, RSM, 74, died Dec. 3, 1999, at Mercy Hospital. She was a native of Seymour, Conn., daughter of the late Frank J. and Florence Lucy Mayo Schumacher, born with the name of Lois Veronica Schumacher, graduate of Sacred Heart Junior College, Mercy Hospital School of Medical Technology, attended Belmont Abbey College, Catholic University, Washington, D.C., St. Louis University, served as a medical technologist, assistant laboratory supervisor, administrative assistant, president, administrator and CEO of St. Joseph?s Hospital, Asheville, administrative assistant, supervisor and education coordinator of the laboratory, board of directors, Mercy Hospital, chairperson and CEO, local superior, councilor on the leadership team of Sisters of Mercy Services Corp., Asheville, member of National Association of Registered Medical Technologists, Registered Blood Bank Technologists, American Society for Medical Technologists, American Association of Blood Banks, Board of Directors of the North Carolina Society of Medical Technologists, American College of Healthcare Executives, North Carolina Hospital Association Board of Trustees, North Carolina District I, NCHA?s Committees on Hospital Nursing and Education, North Carolina Society of Hospital Volunteers and Auxillians, Leadership Asheville Alumni Association, Human Resources Council, Alternative for Asheville, UNC-Asheville Health Care Advisory Committee, Better Business Bureau of Asheville, WNC Board of Directors, Land-O-Sky Regional Council Natural Resources Committee, Diocese of Charlotte, Preparatory Commission, Board of Directors of Sisters?
