Lila Marie Juppé
EASTON — Lila Marie Wegman Juppé of Easton died suddenly and peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006. She was 81.
Born in West New York, N.J., in 1925, she was the daughter of the late Alois John Wegman and Alice Clara (Fisch) Wegman. She graduated from Hackensack High School in 1943, and worked for Stillman and Hogue until her marriage. She married Raymond L. Juppé in 1949.
In 1950, they welcomed their first child, Denise, who was followed by Jill, Jay and David. Lila and Ray had the opportunity to move to Maryland in 1959, when Ray took a job as a criminal investigator for the U.S. Treasury Department. They first resided in Catonsville, and subsequently moved to Easton in 1962.
Lila was widowed in 1967, but stayed in Easton to raise her children. She was very active in the community, and was a member of the Isaak Walton League, St. Michaels Women's Club, Talbot Women's Club, Junior Auxiliary of Easton Memorial Hospital, Choptank Antique Club and Ladies of the Elks.
Lila was devoted to her family and loved painting, baking, gardening, and music. She was very proud to have earned an A.A. degree in Art from Chesapeake College in 1981. She is survived by her sister, Eileen Roeder of Mesa, Ariz.; her children, Denise and husband Richard Dermer of Seattle, Wash., Jill and husband Timothy Sage of Easton, Jay Juppé of Easton, and David Juppé of Annapolis. She also leaves three granddaughters, Lisa and Allison Dermer and Lindsey Sage. She leaves several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Easton. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Lila loved flowers — the family requests that arrangements be sent to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral on the day of her service.
Alternatively, memorial donations may be made to the Talbot County Humane Society, 7984 Ocean Gateway, P.O. Box 1143, Easton, MD 21601.
