Lida Link
Lida Florence Link, 84, of Fort Madison, died at 1:55 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2006.
Born May 22, 1912, in Kahoka, Mo., she was the daughter of Henry and Lillian Whitehead Saar. On Sept. 1, 1934, she married Ray Orville Link In Keokuk. He died Jan. 17, 1976.
She was a licensed LPN and worked at the former Sacred Heart Hospital. She also worked for several doctors, including Werner and Helling, and Valley Medical Clinic. She was a lifetime volunteer for the American Red Cross. She volunteered with Lincoln School. She was a member of the Santa Fe Railroad Ladies Auxiliary. She loved watching the Cubs, playing cards and bingo. She also enjoyed her flower gardens.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Link of Phoenix and William Link of Fort Madison; one daughter, Doris Gilland of Sun City, Ariz.; two grandsons; four great?grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sons, one brother, one sister and one great?grandson.
Family will meet with friends beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, one hour prior to the service.
Celebration of life services for Mrs. Link will be at 11 a.m. Friday at King?Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison, with the Rev. Thomas Parlette officiating. Her body has been cremated. Inurnment will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Fort Madison.
A memorial has been established for PAWS Animal Shelter.
