DAVENPORT ?A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Katherine B. Hope, 83, a resident of Davenport will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 4105 N. Division Street, Davenport. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. The family will greet friends at the church Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until services. Memorials can be made to Our Lady of Victory Church.
Mrs. Hope died Saturday, December 6, 2008, at Genesis Medical Center West Campus following complications after suffering a stroke. Halligan - McCabe - DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Katherine Bernice Koehler was born November 14, 1925, in Muscatine, Iowa, a daughter of John and Anna (Schreiner) Koehler. She was united in marriage to Harry A. Hope on September 25, 1948, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death in 1996. Katherine graduated from the former Mercy School of Nursing with a Registered Nursing degree. She had been employed at the former St. Anthony's Hospital and Franciscan Hospital, Rock Island. After moving to Holt, Mo., she practiced nursing at area nursing homes until her retirement. She cherished the outdoors; she especially enjoyed gardening and canning.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bruce Brammann, Davenport; a son and daughter-in-law, Freddie and Veronica Hope, Holt, Mo.; seven loving grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband two sisters and three brothers also preceded her in death.
