Johnny E. Weckbacher

RINARD MILLS - Johnny E. Weckbacher, 74, of 33762 State Route 537, Rinard Mills (Marr community), died Saturday (April 29, 2006) at Selby General Hospital, Marietta. He was born at Sycamore Valley, Ohio, on Feb. 9, 1932, a son of the late John C. and Mary Kincade Weckbacher. He was a retired laborer for Union Carbide, Marietta, with 35 years of service. He attended the Graysville United Methodist Church, Graysville, and he was a member of the Oil/Chemical/Atomic Workers Union, a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was an honorary member of the Monroe County Agricultural Society after serving more than 25 years as a fair board member, 10 of which he served as president. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and a member of the Southeastern Ohio Quarter Horse Association.
He enjoyed farming, flowering, camping, the outdoors, and the Monroe County Fair. After many years of prayer, Johnny accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior on April 20, 2006, with the assistance of Pastor Wayne Teafatiller.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Martin (Delores) Weckbacher; one sister, Arlene "Sis" (Stanley) Cline; one niece, Trina Jo Cline; and one stepgrandson, Steven Stack.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Ann Gardner Weckbacher, whom he married Aug. 20, 1955; two daughters, Tina (Terrill) Wickham of Rinard Mills, and Dianna (Pat) Hulsey of New Matamoras; three sons, Johnny Bruce Weckbacher of Rinard Mills, Douglas Weckbacher of Woodsfield, and Rodney (Kim) Weckbacher of Lower Salem; one brother, Garald (Sylvia) Weckbacher of Rinard Mills; three grandchildren, Daniel Wickham, Wade Weckbacher, and Page Weckbacher; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Bear.
Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, from 2 to 9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tom Scott and the Rev. Madlynne Webber officiating. Burial will follow in the Creighton Ridge Cemetery, Sycamore Valley, Ohio, with full military graveside services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Community Center, in care of Irene Clift, 31001 Little Injun Road, Lower Salem, Ohio 45745.
