The funeral for Jocelyn Mae "Joey" Kraemer, of Oakes, ND, will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Oakes, ND, with Reverend Scott Block officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at Grace Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Ashley under the direction of Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes.
Jocelyn Mae Kraemer, daughter of Raymond Fred and Huldina Alice (Fischer) Klipfel was born on February 10, 1949 at Eureka, South Dakota. She graduated from Ashley High School with the class of 1966, and then attended University of North Dakota, Ellendale Branch and North Dakota State University. She was united in marriage to Charles Walter Kraemer on December 27, 1969 at Zion Lutheran Church, Ashley, North Dakota. In 1970, Joey graduated from NDSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics, Child Development and Family Relations. She received her Master of Education from the University of Mary in 1993 and a Vocational Education Certification from Valley City State University in 1998.
The couple worked throughout their career in the communities of Bismarck, North Dakota for 3 years, Washburn, North Dakota for 14 years, and Oakes, North Dakota for 16 years. Joey taught and dealt with children throughout her career as a 4-H youth agent for NDSU, and as a private nursery school owner and operator. She currently was the childcare careers instructor at the Southeast Region Career and Technical Center (SERCTC) in Oakes and taught art at Oakes High School and to area schools associated with SERCTC through ITV. She was active in community and church affairs in all of the communities she lived. She loved teaching children, especially pre-school children. She had a contagious smile and laughing eyes capable of winning any heart. Her dedication to her profession won her the love and respect of her peers as well as her students. Joey had a very caring and loving attitude toward human kind, which enabled her to make and keep many friends. She was also known for her exemplary dedication to her family and her love for her children and grandchildren, which were a tremendous joy to her.
Joey died on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota. She was 59 years old.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; a son, Christopher (Jennifer) Kraemer; twin daughters, Candace Kraemer and Carleen (Greg) Stock; four grandchildren; and three sisters, Janet (Al) Vossler, Tamara (Todd) Haas and Michelle (Don) Howard. Joey was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and one nephew.
