Birth: Jun. 23, 1934 Litchville Barnes County North Dakota, USA Death: Jan. 29, 2008 LaMoure LaMoure County North Dakota, USA The funeral for Irene Ketterling, of LaMoure, ND, will be held on Friday, February 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Zoar Lutheran Church, LaMoure, ND. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery near LaMoure at a later date. Irene Avice Salberg, daughter of Clarence and Josephine (Hansen) Salberg was born July 23, 1934, at Litchville, ND. Irene received her education at the Litchville and LaMoure Public Schools, graduating in 1952 from LaMoure High School. She then married John George Ketterling on September 7, 1952, at Hillsboro, ND. Together the couple raised three children. Irene worked as a custodian at the LaMoure Public Schools for 30 years retiring in 1994. Irene was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church. Over the years she enjoyed sewing, crocheting afghans, doilies, Cabbage Patch and Barbie clothes and most of all cooking for the family. She especially cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren. Irene died on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at St. Rose Care Center, LaMoure, ND. She was 73 years old. She is survived by one son, Jon (Teena) Ketterling; two daughters, Yvonne Johnson and Eileen Ketterling; one sister, Lois (Roger) Kovarik; two brothers, Richard (Dorothy) Salberg and Robert Salberg; seven cherished grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and additional relatives and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; a sister, Joyce Peterson; and a grandson, Elijah Ketterling.
