Hilda L. (Schmidt) Mettler (1914 - 2010)
Hilda L. Mettler, 95, of Lodi passed away early Wednesday, December 1, 2010. She was born in Lodi on December 25, 1914 and graduated from Lodi Union High School in 1932.
She married Marvin Mettler in 1934 who preceded her in death in 2003. She was a lifelong active member of Zion Reformed Church and a 4-H leader in earlier years.
She was a member of the Lodi Trailer Club and loved traveling with her husband in their RV and the many trips to Hawaii. She enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren playing sports and was an avid 49er and Giants fan.
In addition to her husband she is also preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Katherina Schmidt. Brothers, Helmuth, Ted and Edward Schmidt. Sisters, Emma Kirschenman and Tillie Simpson.
Survived by Son, Curt (Gavae) Mettler and Daughter, Kathy Haynie.
Grandchildren, Keith (Sherie) Mettler, Dean Mettler, Karen (Rod) Edwards, Sean Haynie and Chris (Sharette) Haynie. Five Great Grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 10:00am at the Lodi Memorial Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11:00am at Zion Reformed Church with Pastor Matt Duerr officiating.
There will be no visitation and the Donahue Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marvin John Mettler, 89, of Lodi, died June 11 at his home. He was born July 9, 1913 in Lodi and was a 1932 graduate of Lodi Union High School, where he played football and ran track.
Mr. Mettler married Hilda Schmidt Dec. 12, 1934 in Lodi. He was a self-employed farmer, growing grapes, cherries and almonds for more than 30 years.
He was a member of Zion Reformed Church in Lodi, a 27-year member and past president of the Lodi Trailer Club, a trustee for the Henderson School District.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Kathy Haynie, of Lodi; son, Curtis Mettler, of Lodi; brothers, Arthur and Howard Mettler, of Santa Cruz; grandchildren, Keith Mettler, Dean Mettler, Karen Edwards, Sean Haynie and Chris Haynie and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Leon and Albert Mettler.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at Lodi Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Matt Duerr of Zion Reformed Church officiating.
