Eunice Jeannette Farschon passed away on March 3, 2011 in the Skilled Nursing Facility of Vi at La Jolla Village, California. She was 94 years old. She was a resident of Sanger, California, for 45 years; Palm Village Retirement Community in Reedley, California, for 6 years; and of San Diego for the past ten years.
Eunice was born in Yakima, Washington, and grew up in McMinnville, Oregon, where she graduated from Linfield College. She did graduate work in Microbiology at the University of Washington, and received a degree in Library Sciences from San Jose State University. She was appointed assistant librarian at Sanger Public Library in 1954 and was librarian at Sanger Union High School from 1960 until she retired in 1976. Eunice loved the outdoors, particularly hiking, fishing and camping. Eunice was very active in community service and the First Baptist Church in Sanger. She enjoyed the many activities at Vi, especially the lunch outings, Padres games, and playing Bingo, Bunco, and SkipBo with the other residents.
Eunice was preceded in death by; her husband Bill L. Farschon of Sanger, California; her brother Douglas Boone of Ripon, California; her sister Helen Murray of Ripon, California; and her parents Arthur G. and Alice M. Boone of McMinnville, Oregon.
Eunice is survived by her sons James W. Farschon (Louise) of San Diego and Michael G. Farschon (Robyn) of Bath, North Carolina. She was blessed by her grandchildren, Todd N. Farschon (Anne) of Petersburg, Virginia, Christopher L. Farschon (Joelle) of Cape May Court House, New Jersey, Jeffery M. Farschon (Annie) of Crofton Maryland, and David M. Farschon (Shannon) of San Diego. Her great-grand children are Elizabeth A. Farschon and Todd N. Farschon II of Petersburg Virginia, Emily M. Farschon, Lauren L. Farschon and Rachael E. Farschon of Cape May Court House, New Jersey, William H. Farschon and Benjamin C. Farschon of Crofton, Maryland, and Julia M. Farschon of San Diego.
A Celebration of Life and ash scattering at sea will be held in San Diego aboard the Newport Hornblower on Sunday, May 1, (5/1) from 1 to 5 PM. Boarding will be at 12:45 PM at the Broadway Float, located at 950 North Harbor Drive, between Broadway Pier (under construction) and Navy Pier (where the Midway is located). Please use the guestbook to RSVP and to indicate whether you prefer salmon, chicken, or vegitarian for lunch.
