Esther Joachim of Lodi, passed away in Lodi on April 1, 2009, at the age of 84. She was born on March 27, 1925, in Ashley, North Dakota to Jacob Bender and Caroline Bender, nee Sperele. She graduated from Ashley High School in 1943, and worked for Ella Lippert’s Dress Shop until 1946, when she married Lloyd Joachim. After their marriage, they moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where Esther was employed by the Grayson Dress Store in downtown Minneapolis for several years, and later for the Dayton Company as a secretary for the credit manager. The couple moved to California in 1956, where her husband was employed by the Aerojet General Corporation in Sacramento, California. Esther was active in the Pink Ladies Association at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stockton, California and a member of Delta Mu sorority in Lodi. She took courses in German language and Art classes at Delta College. Mrs. Joachim is survived by her husband, Lloyd Joachim of Lodi. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews; Michael Joachim, Linda Cox, Virgil (Diana) Cox, Lila Cox, Amy (David) Cox, Andrea and Dylan Cox. She was preceded in death by her son, Jerome Joachim in 1998, and one brother, Ervin Bender. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 6th at 2:00 p.m. at Lodi Memorial Cemetery. There is no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Esther’s name to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204.
