Obituary for Elva Lorraine Preszler
At the age of 92, Elva "Lorraine" Preszler passed away on May 29, 2015 at her daughter and son-in-Iaw's home.
Lorraine was born on January 14, 1923 to George and Laura Tinkham in Seattle, WA. She grew up in Woodinville, WA, where she also met her husband, Oscar. He was the love of her life, and they were fortunate to celebrate 66 years of marriage before he passed in 2007.
Lorraine and Oscar had three children George, Sharon, and Laura. Sharon passed away in December of 1948.
Lorraine was a beautician for the first few years before she and Oscar were married. After
moving to the Tri-Cities, she worked at the Hanford Area. She loved to cook and bake, and in the 60's worked at a few restaurants in Kennewick. Later she became the head baker and eventually the District Food Supervisor for the Kennewick School District. She retired in 1982. In the 90s and early 2000s, Lorraine enjoyed helping her daughter Laura with her catering business.
Lorraine's hobbies included playing pinochle and other card games with friends and family. Weekly she played cards with groups, such as the Kennewick Eagles and the Grange. She also enjoyed knitting and needlework, fishing, snow birding in Arizona in the winter, dancing, but most of all spending time with her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Lorraine was a Past President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Kennewick Grange. She also belonged to the Royal Neighbors of America, Kennewick Cancer Guild, and the Cathedral of Joy.
Lorraine will be remembered for her love of helping others, tender heart, yard sales, winning hand in pinochle, generosity, beautiful hair and nails, and her love for her dog Bailey.
Elva "Lorraine" is survived by her son George Preszler (Phyllis Sage), daughter Laura Preszler Lumper (Neal Lumper), 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
On Saturday, June 6, 2015, there will be a viewing from 11:00am-1:30pm, at Mueller’s Tri-Cities Funeral Home and graveside service at 2:00pm, at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, both located at 1401 S Union St., Kennewick, WA. There will also be celebration of life service at 3:00pm, on the same day, at Living Room Community Church, located at 1409 S. Garfield St., Kennewick, WA.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Children's Hospital in memory of Elva Lorraine Preszler.
