She died on 10 Oct 2005 in Louisville, Stark Co., OH. She was buried in St. Louis Cemetery, Louisville, Stark Co., OH. She married 6 Eugene J. Evrard on 19 Jun 1934.
In the Louisville High School graduating class of 1924, there was one award each for First Honors and Second Honors. Eleanor Agnes Crock graduated with second honors.
Eleanor Crock Evrard?s obituary was published in the Canton Repository on 12 Oct 2005: Eleanor Crock Evrard, age 100 of Louisville, passed away Monday, October 10, 2005 in St. Joseph Care Center following a recent illness. Eleanor was born in Fulda, Noble County, Ohio on August 19, 1905 to the late William and Barbara (Crum) Crock. When Eleanor was three years old, the family moved to Louisville to a farm her father owned on Crock Road, so named for the family. She grew up with five sisters and one brother. She went to the Belfort Elementary School and graduated from Louisville High School. Eleanor then went on to graduate from Kent University. Eleanor was teaching at Fairhope grade school when she met and married Jim Evrard, son of Louis and Cecelia (Paumier) Evrard, on June 19, 1934. At that time married teachers were asked to relinquish their positions. Eleanor and Jim raised a family of three, two sons, William of Akron and John (Suzanne) of North Canton, and daughter Mary (Thomas) Leritz of St. Louis, MO. They were also the proud grandparents of eight grandchildren, Debra Duffy, Donald Evrard, Julie Fleenor, Michael Evrard, Ann Oliver, Marie Floretta, Thomas Leritz and William Leritz. Jim proved to a perfect husband for his active lady. He supported her in her many charitable works outside the home as well as helping her with the children and many household tasks. Fifteen years after Eleanor had to give up her teaching, a former principal at Fairhope needed someone to teach in Waco and called her - and she accepted. Four years later, Mr. Russell Strausser called her; he thought she might like teaching closer to home. That began 22 years in the Louisville school system during which time she was awarded many honors. She received a certificate of Honorary Life Member of the Ohio Congress of Parent and Teachers, Inc., by the Louisville Elementary PTA. In 1973, she was awarded Elementary Teacher of America by her principal. She continued to teach until she was 70 years old. After retiring, she found a way back into teaching by becoming a teacher?s aid at St. Paul School in North Canton. She also made time to visit the sick and was often seen volunteering at St. Joseph Care Center and the local hospitals. Her innovative mind led her to offer a story-book hour every week at her home for the children of the neighborhood. Eleanor was active in St. Louis Catholic Church and school. She was general chairman and president of the St. Louisville School Guild and was president of St. Ann?s Altar and Rosary Society, the Mission Club and in the Retired Teachers Association. She taught Catholic Christian Doctrine at St. Louis Church, attended daily mass and was a Eucharistic Minister. Eleanor lost her husband September 9, 1993 at the age of 92. They had the good fortune of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends. They had also traveled quite extensively, visiting many countries abroad including the Holy Land. Eleanor is preceded in death by four sisters, and a brother, Mary Paumier, Rosa Kramer, Amelia Kagle, Lucy Smith, and Joseph Crock. She is survived by her sister, Rita Schneider of North Canton. Eleanor always enjoyed telling jokes, playing bridge, cooking, reading, gardening, exercising, shopping and helping others. She loved her family very much and was very proud of them. Eleanor will always be remembered as a warm and kind lady with a bright smile for everyone she met - a smile that revealed her inner beauty and vivacious spirit. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Louis Catholic Church with Msgr. Ken Miller officiating. Friends may call Thursday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville. Memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor?s memory to the Activities Department and Sisters of St. Joseph Care Center, 2308 Reno Drive, Louisville Ohio 44641. The family would like to thank the Sisters and staff at St. Joseph Care Center for the living care given to their mother.
