Griffin in 1942, and served in the Army Signal Corp, North African Campaign, in WWII. He moved his family of four to Vero Beach in 1952 and opened Duffy's, "Where The Elite Meet to Eat" which was located where the County Courthouse now stands. He had two more children, worked at Piper and was a realtor in the area for 20 years. St. Helen's Church and school were a great part of family life in the early years. They also enjoyed the beach, camping at Alexander Springs, square dancing with the Crazy 8's, baseball and Dodgertown, and running the grove roads in an old military jeep. Don retired from US Postal Service in 1985 and in his retirement he enjoyed summers at Winngray in Waynesville, NC. He restored a '37 Packard Coupe and enjoyed driving around town and showing "Elizabeth" at antique car shows in the area. He also enjoyed playing dulcimers with groups in North Carolina and Vero Beach. He taught his family to work hard, to always make time for family fun, to live with thrift and mirth, and thank the Lord daily for blessings, no matter how small. Contributions can be made to VNA Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960 or St. Joseph's Indian School, Chamberlain, SD 57325. No flowers please.
