Cornelia Hagge
MENNO — Cornelia Hagge, 63, Menno, passed away Thursday (June 28, 2001) at her home in Menno.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 2, at the Grace Lutheran Church, Menno, with Rev. Leon Schulz officiating. Burial will be in the Our Savior's West Cemetery, rural Menno.
Pallbearers will be Donley Aisenbrey, Ron Aisenbrey, William C. Mitchell, Doug Schaeffer, Helmuth Fischer and David Schweinforth.
Visitation will be 1-9 p.m. Sunday, a the Aisenbrey-Kostel Funeral Home, Menno, with the family present at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Cornelia Louise Hagge was born Dec. 15, 1937, to Gideon and Adella (Aisenbrey) Mettler, on a farm southeast of Menno. She was baptized on Feb. 20, 1938, at the Salem Reformed Church by Rev. John Bodenman. She attended Menno Public School and was confirmed in the Salem Reformed Church by Rev. Eric Kaempchen at age 14 1/2 on June 22, 1952.
After graduating from Menno High School in 1955, she was employed by the Yankton Independent School District from 1955 until 1960. Cornelia was united in marriage to Calvin Hagge at the Salem Reformed Church by Rev. William Korn on June 19, 1960. They lived on a farm 6 1/2 miles southwest of Menno until February 1998 when they moved to Menno. She battled cancer for five years and died in her home on June 28, 2001, at the age of 63 years, 6 months and 13 days.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church of rural Menno all of her married life. She held offices in the church council and ladies aid. She was a member of the Gideons International Auxiliary and the Menno Senior Citizens.
She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed her flower gardens, knitting and reading.
She is survived by her husband, Calvin, of Menno; one son, Ralph (Dawn) Hagge, of Sioux City, Iowa; four daughters: Mary (William) Schoenfish, of Menno; Karen (Kevin) Brasser, of Paullina, Iowa; Nancy (Jeff) Hanka, of Olive Branch, Miss.; and Susan (Dean) Fuerst, of Park Falls, Wisc.; also 10 grandchildren: Audrey, Emily and Abbey Hagge; Kari, Cassie and Robert Schoenfish; Ryan, Erin and Peyton Brasser; and Janean Hanka.
She is survived by her father, Gideon Mettler, Menno; and her sister, Carolyn Mitchell-Kachel, of Sioux Falls.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Adella Mettler, and two granddaughters, Rachel and Nichol Hanka.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to The Gideons International.
