Brigham Sunday, March 9, 2008 Star Beacon ASHTABULA ? Corliss "Corky" H. Brigham, age 84, of Eagleville Road, died unexpectedly Friday, March 7, 2008. Born February 25, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of Keston and Emma (Reiff) Brigham. He moved to Ashtabula County in 1930 and was a Rock Creek High School graduate. He married Beverly Burlingame on December 23,1950. A Veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. While in the Navy, he also worked in meteorology and was aboard an aircraft carrier in the south pacific. He worked in several industrial plants in the Ashtabula and Cleveland areas. He started a lawnmower service and repair in Eagleville in 1960 and continued for 20 years. He belonged to the VFW Post #943. He enjoyed golfing, and fishing in Lake Erie and Canada. Survivors include three children, Janet Phelps of Conneaut, Virginia (William) White of Kingsville, and Grant Brigham of Jefferson; five grandchildren, Amanda White, James White, Brandy Lothrop, Tim White, and Alicia Brigham; one great-granddaughter, Layla White; two brothers, Roy Brigham and John Brigham; sister, Carroll Gildersleeve; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, Keston Brigham, Elmer Brigham, and Linn Brigham; and three sisters, Velda Grandbouche, Lois Timms, and Barbara Smith. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 10, 2008, at 3:30 p.m. at the Jefferson home of the FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 49 W. Jefferson St.,, Jefferson, Ohio, with Pastor Bill McMinn officiating. Burial will follow in Eagleville Cemetery. Contributions can be made to VFW #943, 4102 Main Avenue, Ashtabula.
