A lifelong New Haven resident, he retired in 1970 after 55 years as the controller for Parrot Packing Co. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. Surviving are his wife, Alice R.; a son, William A.; a daughter, Darlene A. Chamness; brothers, Harold and Carl; sisters, Mary Margaret Freiburger, Berneice Brandenburg, Thelma Wolfe, and Dolores Momper; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
