He was born September 25, 1902, at Woodsfield, the son of the late William and Minnie Buchanan Polen. He was a retired Post Master of Lewisville Post Office. He was a member of the Woodsfield Church of Christ, and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Woodsfield. He is survived by his wife, Vera Unger Polen; two sons, Donald W. Polen of Naples, Florida, George R. Polen of Duran, Michigan; one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Donna Jean) Beery of Burlington, New Jersey; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Geneva Paulus, Woodsfield; one brother, Charles Polen, Lewisville. Friends were received at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield where services were held Sunday, July 6, 1986, with the Reverend Dr. Stephen R. Long officiating. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield.
