Cecil Elmer Hoff passed away March 16, 2008. He was born in Golden Valley, N.D., Aug. 15, 1923. His parents were Rev. August Hoff and Bertha Bunk Hoff.
His parents; a younger sister, Esther Betty Hoff of Vallejo, Calif.; and a wife, Aileen Hoff; preceded him in death only to be reunited with him on his celebration day in heaven with his loving Lord.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Eileen Foley Hoff; his stepson, Robert M. Foley and wife Connie of Basin, Mont.; his stepdaughter, Pamela Weaver and husband Gary Weaver and their children, Joe Weaver, Kirk Weaver and wife Kendra, and Jaime Weaver, all of Williamsburg, Va.; stepgrandchildren, Lance Foley and wife Melissa of Great Falls, Mont., Nicole Foley of Alexandria, Wash., and Amber Foley Westie and husband Kevin Westie of Great Falls, Mont.; great-grandchildren, Darlene Patricia S. Westie and Isabel Marie Foley. He is survived by his eldest sister, Bertha Kelstrup and husband Rev. Arthur Kelstrup of Centralia, Wash.; his younger sister, Eleanor M. Calhoun from Martinez, Calif.; his younger brother, David C. Hoff and wife Doris J. Hoff of Vacaville, Calif.; and his youngest brother, Paul Hoff, attorney, and wife Doris L. Hoff of Sacramento, Calif. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Cecil graduated from Nashua (Mont.) High School. He joined the U.S. Army after high school during World War II and is a veteran of that war.
He worked at Boeing Aircraft after the war and retired from Boeing in Seattle.
Cecil and his wife Eileen moved to Asotin, from Seattle, 10 years ago. Cecil enjoyed the view of the hills and the Snake River from his deck on the backside of his hillside home in Asotin. He loved working in his garden growing the biggest watermelons in the family.
He was loved by his siblings as the big brother status, who had a big heart for each one of them. While living in Asotin, he made many friends at the senior center and in his neighborhood, including his sister-in-law, Pat Chamberlain, and loved them all.
Funeral services took place Thursday at the Assembly of God Church in Asotin with Rev. Jay Norman officiating. A beautiful familiar hymn to Jesus was sung by his niece, Pamela Smallwood. Funeral arrangements were made by Merchant Funeral Home of Clarkston.
