Carrol J. Gildersleeve Wednesday, June 4, 2008 JEFFERSON ? Carrol J. Gildersleeve joined God's choir in the sky on Sunday, June 1, 2008, while at her home in the care of her children. Carrol was born Oct. 19, 1931, in New Lyme Township, to the late Stella and Keston Brigham. She attended school in Rock Creek until her family moved to southern Ohio when she was a teenager. She graduated from Lewisville High School in 1949. She attended Ohio State University for a year before meeting and marrying the love of her life, Samuel F. Gildersleeve. Together they raised five children, worked their dairy farm and traveled together during their retirement years. Carrol had a love for life, a sense of humor and contributed to her community in many different ways. She has been a member of the Eagleville Bible Church since the early 1950's, where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, was a deaconess and later helped provide for others during their times of need. She was a 4-H leader and shared her sewing abilities with many youngsters, including her daughters and granddaughters. She enjoyed gardening and was an active member in the Austinburg Garden Club. She was also a member of the Austinburg Tops Club. She was employed by Sanborn Wire Products and Reliance Electric Engineering Co., along with driving for Meals on Wheels later in life. Carrol loved life, her family, family gatherings and spending time with friends. She will be missed dearly and will live on in the hearts of all who have known and loved her. She is survived by her children, son and daughter-in-law and those she considered her children; Franklin G. Gildersleeve, Delora J. (Dale L.) Rose, Timothy D. Gildersleeve, Samuel R. (Vicki Jo) Gildersleeve, Cynthia K. Gildersleeve, Ingrid (Scholz) Weber and Victoria Faye Gildersleeve; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Roy C. Brigham in New Hampshire and John C. Brigham in Maine; numerous nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stella Weber Brigham Wahl and Keston D. Brigham; her husband of 47 years, Samuel F. Gildersleeve; four brothers, Keston Jr., Elmer, Corliss and Linn Brigham; and three sisters, Velda Grandbouche, Barbara Smith and Lois Timms. Her family would like to thank Hospice of the Western Reserve for their help, assistance and gentle care. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2008, at the Jefferson Home of the FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with Pastor Bill McMinn, of Eagleville Bible Church, officiating. Burial will be in Eagleville Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held Thursday, June 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
