Ackerman, 82, of Lewisville, died Friday (Sept. 10, 2004) at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta. She was born July 12, 1922 near Calais, a daughter of the late Joseph and Josie Carpenter Delong. She attended the former Calais Elementary and High School. She was a full-time homemaker and housewife and a member of the Calais Church, where she attended her entire life. She enjoyed embroidering gifts, reading, gardening and canning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen, Dorothy and Betty; three brothers, Richard, Cletis and Donnie; and a granddaughter, Krista Ackerman. She leaves her husband of 61 years, Edward H. Ackerman, whom she married Nov. 4, 1942; four sons, Jimmy (Caroline) Ackerman of Danville, Junior (Sheila) Ackerman of Lewisville, Phillip (Sally) Ackerman of Beallsville and Ben (Karen) Ackerman of Lewisville; two daughters, Mrs. Eric (Patricia) Dowler of Parkersburg, WV. and Mrs. Roger (Phyllis) Claus of Lewisville; two brothers, Guy (Mona) Delong of Salesville and Vance (Rose) Delong of Byesville; seven grandchildren, Travis, Jason, Carey, Pam, Russell, Casey and Brittany; two step-grandchildren, Stacey and Missy; three great-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren. Friends may call 2 to 9 P.M. Monday at the Watters Funeral Home where services will be 11 A.M. Tuesday with Pastor Matt Zurowsky officiating. Burial will be in Middle Church Cemetery near Lewisville.
