Birth: Mar. 19, 1908 Death: Dec. 24, 1993 OBITUARY- AUSTIN -- Bennie G. Moen, 85, of 1401 Fourth St. S.W., died Friday (Dec. 24, 1993) at St. Olaf Hospital here. Born March 19, 1908, in Dodge County, he married Mary Schumacher on Feb. 2, 1946, in Austin. She survives. Mr. Moen farmed until 1941 and served in the Army for four years. He was an employee of Hormel Foods Corp. for 25 years. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and VFW Post 1216 in Austin. Survivors include a son, Robert Horgen of Shakopee, Minn.; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; six sisters, Olvina Distad of Chatfield, Emma Johnson and Clara Sauer, both of Austin, Matilada Jerdet of San Antonio, Irene Jensen of Janesville, Minn., and Evelyn Moen of Austin; and two brothers, Melvin of Owatonna and Arthur of Hayfield. He was preceded in death by a brother. The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church here, with the Rev. James Mikkelson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Worlein Funeral Home here, and an hour before the service at the church. Military rites will be offered by the VFW.
