Audrey I. Hickman, 91, of Garrett died Thursday at 8:04 p.m. in DeKalb Memorial Hospital, Auburn. She worked at the DeKalb County Advertiser for 15 years and then worked at Sacred Heart Hospital in the diet kitchen from 1963 to 1973 before she retired. She was a member of the First Church of Christ. She was born Jan. 8, 1907, in Auburn, to William and Estella (Kraft) Shoudel, both now deceased. On May 31, 1928, she married Ralph M. Hickman in Garrett. He died in 1961. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Eva Reffner of Garrett; four grandchildren, Cynthia Cannon of St. Charles, Ill., Belinda Johnston of Elgin, III., Jeffrey Hickman of Champaign, Ill., and Melissa Hickman of Lake In The Hills, Ill.; a brother, John Shoudel of Auburn; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jacques Hickman, who died Jan. 15, 1998, and a sister, Harriett Woodcok. Funeral services will take place Monday at 1:3C p.m. in the McKee-Miles Funeral Home, Garrett, with Lloyd Mealer, pastor of the First Church of Christ, officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of Christ or Miller's Merry Manor.
