She was born on December 8, 1912 at Dubois, Indiana to Lawrence and Catherine (Kempf) Nordhoff, married John C. Schepers on October 16, 1943; he preceded her in death on September 18, 1976. Alvena Schepers was a homemaker and member of St. Celestine Catholic Church and the St. Ann?s Society of St. Celestine Church ? Celestine Community Club. Surviving are 3 daughters and 2 sons; Mrs. Hilary (Marilyn) Lampert Martha Schepers, both of Celestine, IN Mrs. William (Ruth Ann) Boyer, Dubois, IN Kenneth Schepers, Huntingburg, IN Maurice Gene Schepers, Valley Farms, AZ 13 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren 3 great great grandchildren Preceding her in death besides her husband is 4 sisters, Irma Goller, Cordilia Bruce Bernice Schepers and Dorothy Leistner, and 2 brothers Otto and Leroy Nordhoff Funeral services for Alvena Schepers will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (February 3, 2007) in St. Celestine Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Celestine Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday (February 2, 2007) at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home by members of St. Ann Society and other members of St. Celestine Parish.
